Laura A. Pallan, MD
Dr. Laura A. Pallan, a board certified ophthalmologist, joined Optometric Care in 1995. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree, with honors, from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. Her research in molecular biology took her to the Memorial-Sloan Kettering Institute in New York to further study breast cancer. She enrolled in medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1989.
After a two-year residency in Internal Medicine, Dr. Pallan chose ophthalmology as a career and completed a residency at The Eye and Ear Institute of Pittsburgh. She has participated in numerous research projects concentrating on diabetes. She practiced general ophthalmology and refractive surgery in Western New York before returning to Pittsburgh in 1995.
Dr. Pallan has several specialties, including diabetes, cataracts, macular degeneration and glaucoma. Her surgical skills include cataract, oculoplastic and refractive surgery. She was recently named Chief of Surgery at UPMC-Beaver Valley. Dr. Pallan is also on staff at Sewickley Hospital, Vencor Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh. She frequently attends international meetings to broaden her education and bring advances in eye care to her patients.
Dr. Pallan is originally from and currently resides in Sewickley. She enjoys golfing, skiing, traveling and cooking.
